Website Building Process: What to expect

Phase one: Planning

QUESTIONNAIRE

The Client will receive my ‘Homework’ email with a link to a Questionnaire. This questionnaire is quite detailed and will help me get a deeper understanding of my client’s needs & likes.

I ask my client to fill out this questionnaire at least 1 week before our agreed start date. This way there will be time for me to ask for clarification/more info if needed.

CONTENT

I will ask my client to upload all your content (images, logo etc) directly onto the website builder’s media gallery.

For the copy there are 3 options:

• if my client doesn’t currently have a website or there isn’t enough copy on it, the questionnaire will guide them through writing fresh copy for their new site
• if my client hired a copywriter I will ask them to email me the copy created for them
• if my client is happy with the copy currently on their site they won’t need to do anything!

PINTEREST BOARD (optional)

If my client booked a custom or semi custom website design, I will create a Pinterest board and ask them to pin some inspiration to it. I can also suggest some pins that I think would suit the aesthetic they’re looking for.

Phase two: Design

DESIGN & BUILD HOMEPAGE

I’ll start by designing the homepage in full.

FEEDBACK

I will send my client a preview of their homepage for feedback before I start building the rest of their site. This is a great way to check that we’re on the same page and that they’ll be in love with the design I create!

If they’d like any revisions made I will make the changes and resend the homepage preview for approval.

DESIGN & BUILD REST OF WEBSITE

I will work on designing and building the rest of the website.

VIRTUAL REVEAL

Once I’m done designing the site, I will send my client a link to book a video call on Google Meet for their virtual reveal.

On the call I will share my screen and show them their new website page by page. If my client wants any changes made I will take notes, if the changes are quick and easy I will do them live otherwise I will do them after the call.

I will then do a mini demo of the website builder and show my client how to make small changes such as updating images and copy etc.

We will also set a launch date together.

Phase three: Launch

FINAL TWEAKS

I will work on all the changes that were discussed on the call and put the finishing touches onto the site.

TESTING & LAUNCH

Once I have finished making all the requested changes to the site I’ll publish it and test it out to make sure everything works.

I’ll then let my client know when everything is ready so they can go over their brand new site at their own pace and make sure they’re happy with everything before launching.

INSTAGRAM POST

I will create an instagram post or reel to showcase the new website and invite my client as a collaborator, that way they get to launch their site on insta without having to do the work of creating graphics and coming up with a caption!

HANDOVER SUPPORT

Depending the package booked there is 7, 14 or 21 days of handover support included to help with minor tweaks.

This could include updating some images, adding/removing some copy, adding/removing elements etc. As long what is being ask doesn’t require a complete redesign or isn’t something that would take hours of work then I can help 🙂
